Examples of Core Deliverables

Organizational assessment and development planning, including initial assessment and recommendations, resulting in a written assessment report and an organizational development plan to address issues described in the report.

Management team development, including engagement, staffing and organization of members, along with comprehensive, step-by-step guidelines and materials for all critical and ongoing team activities, resulting in a written management team development plan and agency process model. 

Strategic planning, including customizing planning process, identification and/or clarification of all critical issues and specific strategies to address each issue, resulting in a written relevant, realistic and flexible strategic plan.

Leadership and supervisory development, including identifying performance goals for each position, clarifying roles and organization, and customizing employee performance management system, along with comprehensive, step-by-step guidelines and materials for all critical leadership and supervisory activities, resulting in an organization chart, a staffing plan, job descriptions, workflow analysis and process books and an updated handbook of personnel policies.

Project management and financial management systems, deployment, redeploy or swap; research, recommendation and implementation. From hourly rate analysis, to overhead review, I look to build a balanced score card for your agency.

Team building, team development, and project control, from coaching, to team assessments, DISC workplace assessments and development to recommending the right project management processes for your agency, pulling from traditional project management, to agile/lean processes to design thinking. Who we work with

We work with all types of creative agencies, digital firms, production services firms & internal brand teams. Agency (or internal marketing team) sizes that work best for us are between 10 and 150 people. Our engagements typically start out with agency owners or a member of the management team and can extend down to working with internal teams. 

Our services

Makr offers consulting, training and coaching services. We tailor our services specifically to your needs. The right approach depends on what will work best for you from a cost, timing and approach. We prefer to work directly with you and your team on-site initially, but we do offer phone and Skpe based coaching services.

During our consulting sessions, we look at finding solutions to your problems holistically. We interview you and individual team members, collecting data and reviewing agency materials. We will make recommendations at the strategic level based on your unique situation. Our recommendations include an action plan and advice on how to prioritize the recommendations moving forward. Then we help you work through next steps together or on your own.

If you feel you just need help moving forward on you own, we provide coaching sessions, based on a month-to-month contract. Often times, consulting services merge into just coaching sessions, to help keep you on track and accountable.

When appropriate we prefer to work on-site, Ed is local to the NYC area and is frequently in Portland, Oregon, but has travelled all over the US working with clients.

We start by talking through your problems & goals, both long-term and short-term. We then use a backgrounder questionnaire that helps us determine fit, and what type of services would work best for you. All engagements are customized to your specific needs, and our recommendations for achieving best results.


Coaching Services

Coaching can be both by phone (Skype & Google Hangout work as well) or in-person on a day fee. We are on the EST USA timezone, and can coordinate sessions based on what's best for you. Coaching works best when you are open to an outside voice. We start by focusing on a set of goals and an agenda for each call. Included in all coaching sessions are 2-3 emails per week with any questions you may have. We focus on helping you achieve your goals, but the hard work is up to you. Some clients need to work through some short problems, and others can be on-going.

If you are interested in Coaching Services, we start with a call and run through any questions you have and what your goals and needs are, this call typically lasts 45 minutes. If we both think we are a match, and coaching seems like the right approach, then we go through an in-take questionnaire similar to our consulting questionnaire. Based on the call and the questionnaire, together we determine if this is a match.

Confidentiality

All coaching and consulting agreements are considered confidential in nature. Our agreement includes a mutual NDA. We highly respect the sensitive nature of all information, and as an organizational development specialist, we understand the importance of keeping all information private. Makr may provide materials to you that may be used in other consulting engagements, however anything that you share with us remains private.

Coaching Goals & Costs

Our goal is to provide relevant feedback as you work through any problems you may have. We help you stay accountable and look to work with you by tackling long-term problems by focusing on short-term progress. We share advice to help you solve specific problems, based on our experience. We provide an outside, honest perspective. 

Coaching is one-on-one and lasts approximately one hour. Coaching packages start with a two-month commitment. The first month is when we get things organized and start setting goals, after that we work on the heavy lifting to get you to your goals. At the end of the two-months, we will ask if you would like to continue, and then send you a bill for the new month prior to getting started.

Prior to starting, we will send you a contract and request upfront payment for each month. Current rates include 1± hour session per week with 2-3 emails each week where you can ask additional questions (that take a reasonable time to answer). The rate is $1499 per month. Additional sessions are at $150 an hour when you are on a contract.

At the start of each call, we check in to see how things are going and what's occurred since our last call, we then go over what you would like to accomplish during the session. We'll review how things went meeting your goals for the week, ask about ongoing issues, and see how you are making progress. Together, we set homework for the week to accomplish for the next call. For ongoing coaching sessions, we will set agendas for each call to help us stay on track.

Consulting Services and Costs

Every agency sometimes needs a bit of help to move forward. We act as a way of helping you move your agency forward. We specialize in agency operations, workflow, process and team development. We have worked for a range of creative agencies looking to help them overcome a range of operational problems as well as building agility within the agency. Prior to developing a customized scope-of-work for your firm, we will typically run through 1-2 initial meetings to get an idea of the complexity of the project. All consulting scopes-of-work begin with an initial discovery phase, the size of which depends on your agency's size, goals and complexity of problems. We believe in tackling your problems and goals at a systems level and will make recommendations for ways of tackling your problems after the initial discovery phase. Depending on what specific problems you may be having, our next steps may range from having a second discovery process, to recommending training programs, to additional on-site or off-site consulting services. However, all discovery phases end with a report, including recommendations and an action plan for moving forward. It's up to you if you would like to continue.

While some of the discovery process can be done over the phone, we highly recommend that we work together on-site through most of the discovery phase. Some of our recommendations will include on-site workshops and training. However, every engagement is unique to you and your needs.

Consulting services are scoped on an individual basis, starting with a typical discovery/strategy phase ranging from $5,000 - $10,000 depending on the size, goals and needs of the agency. Consulting projects have ranged from $2,500 for a workshop to $50,000+ for long-term engagements.  The engagement really depends on your specific needs, what you feel you can tackle on your own, what you feel you need direct assistance with or just guidance as well as available internal resources. Day rates are available and vary depending on expertise needed and location. All travel related costs are additional.

Agency assessments

  • 360° Start - Covers all areas in the firm with the focus on the overall health of the business.
  • Operational Foundation - Assess the firm's operational ability to achieve it's strategic goals.
  • Workflow Assessment - Assess the firm's current workflow & process systems.
  • Teamwork - Assess the firm's team(s) or personnel, matching roles & behaviors.
  • Disc for Workplace - Assess individual behavior preferences and working style against team needs.

All consulting services require an initial deposit, with the balance due based on project milestones or completion.


workshops & TRAINING:

On-site: Integrated Project Management Training $2500 (not including travel)
One day training session (same day 2 - 3.5 hour sessions) on the basics of Integrated Project Management. We focus on training your project managers in the basics of Integrated Project Management. Costs are for up to five attendees. $500 each additional staff member. Includes workbook.

On-site: Integrated Producer Training $2750 (not including travel)
One day training session (same day 2 - 3.5 hour sessions) on the basics of being a Integrated Producers. We focus on training your producers in the basics of Integrated Production and Project Management. Geared towards agencies that have either in-house content production facilities or work with 3rd party vendors for outside production. Costs are for up to three attendees. $600 each additional staff member. Includes workbook.

On-site: Learn the Basics of OxD Workshop $Call for Pricing (not including travel)
One day session (same day 2 - 3.5 hour sessions) learn the basics of Organizational Experience Design (OxD), on how to use OxD to map out your current process, learn how to identify areas for improvement, redundancy, and prototyping new processes. Learn how to introduce agency values into your agency processes. Great for agencies who are looking to add agility and simplify their entire agency client and project management experience. (Works best with 5-15 team members). Great for agencies looking to develop or refine their processes on their own.

On-site: Advanced OxD Workshop $Call for Pricing (not including travel) - Must have completed day one Basic OxD Workshop.
One day session (same day 3 - 2.25 hour sessions) advanced Organizational Experience Design (OxD), small group workshops to build out your firm's process, using day one's learnings. Examine roles and responsibilities, competency development, self-organized team creation, eliminating layers of command and control. Introduction to agility processes. Prototype new agency process within small groups in iterative workshops. Great for agencies who want to jump start process change within their agency.
